About me
Hello World! I am Callum, sometimes known as my handle y1sb0k, I am a SOC Analyst currently operating within the high-stakes world of finance, where I specialise in safeguarding sensitive institutional assets and defending critical infrastructure against evolving cyber threats. While my professional roots are in defensive security, I am driven by the belief that the best defenders are those who truly understand the attacker's mindset. To that end, I am aggressively pursuing a transition into Web Application Penetration Testing, currently dedicating my time to mastering the eWPT (eLearnSecurity Web Application Penetration Tester) curriculum and refining my skills on TryHackMe, where I have climbed into the top 15% of users globally.
Beyond the web, I have a developing interest in hardware security, specifically RFID and NFC hacking, exploring the physical-digital intersection of access control systems. My fascination with the hardware layer extends to active experimentation with specialized tools like the Proxmark3 and Nordic Semiconductor nRF52840 for signal analysis. I take a hands-on approach to learning by utilizing industry-standard gear—including the Flipper Zero, WiFi Pineapple, USB WiFi Deauther, and the Hak5 suite of Bash Bunny and Rubber Ducky—to better understand the vulnerabilities inherent in physical and wireless entry points.
When I’m not analyzing traffic or hunting for bugs, I am committed to making the tech industry more equitable through my passion for diversity and inclusion. On a more personal note, I am a dedicated vegetarian and an avid gamer, bringing the same level of curiosity and focus to my plant-based cooking and virtual adventures as I do to my professional career.
